A hug a day keeps blues away!

I read yesterday that hugs can relieve one from pain.
Well ,I tried this today, and here are the results.
I hugged my teenage son ,early in the morning ,when he was leaving for school. He was stiff, surprised, embarassed and mumbled "Mammma...I am not a baby." But I did catch a small smile.
I did the same to my 10 year old daughter who hugged me right back.Real tight. She snuggled and whispered"Chweety Mamma." That certainly pleased me.
I hugged DH on his way to office. He gave me a huge silly smile and winked in response.
Moral of the story? A hug does bring happiness-both to the giver and reciever.
Give it a shot.

That's why it is called JKJ, ( Jadu Ki Japphi). A physical touch is hundred times more potent than mere words, when one is feeling at the lowest ebb.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Yes, it is true. My doddamma (my mother's elder sister) used to hug everybody and was asking us to at least put our hands around children's waist while talking to them. They will be comfortable with our touch even after growing up and will not hesitate to physically help us, when need arises, she used to say. I am following her advice and hug or pat people often and I can notice the reaction immediately.

Matha Amruthanadamayi is famous for hugging her devotees. I had her hug me once, long back. Kushwanth Singh got himself hugged by her and liked the feeling, he wrote later.

Nice blog. Might change some more people.

@Sandhya -I have heard abbout Matha Amruthanadamayi...Even though we all realise the importance of hugs, we tend to shy away..may be cos of our culture and upbringing..
Renu-One special hug to you for being such a darling MIL-that`s a very rare variety ;-)..Yeah even my Mom or for that matter my elder cousins etc..i find the younger gen is more physically demonstrative..
d-thanx :-)
monika -ansh-- You toh must be getting hundreds from your little one..I remember ,my daughter- when she was around 2, would kiss me and hug me and i would actually push her away cos the kissing was endless!! Oh those love-ly days...
