Mumbai Voter turnout- 45%....Such a shame!
One of the most popular , rich, urbane city, the economic capital of India , city of dreams...none of it matters. Peace march, candle march, angry outbursts..none of it matters...terrorist attacks, slums, horrible infrasrtucture, roads caving in ,skyrocketing prices...none of it matters..
What matters is the break you can take..long weekend..Alibagh, Lonavala,Ganpatiphule here we come..and the ones with deeper pockets..USA, UK, Spain, Australia..
And it is so so so HOT! The temperatures are soaring and we can`t step out in this heat to like vote or something..Puhleeze..
Such a shame. I am ANGRY..Mumbaikars or is it Bombayites ( whatever) have stuck to what they are great at..APATHY..Mumbai always bounces back and it has and how...we loose, we suffer, we cry , we forget and we move on and then go for a holiday to regain our spirits..vote? For what? For whom? Forget it ! It`s a fabulous opportunity to take that much needed break..Anyways if a couple of us don`t vote it hardly matters...
But it does..And it`s a shame that educated people are the ones who have chosen to ignore their right and power..
I agree with you Aarti. I have seen here in Chennai also, the middle and lower class people stand in a queue and vote. But the highly educated affluent people, think it doesn't hurt them, it they don't vote. Same as you said, ek ya do vote se kya faraq padta.
ReplyDeleteMy husband was in Bangalore last week and came to know that some people who are middle aged, have not voted even once in their lives! They have girls in their houses and are not afraid of more Muthaliks coming up over there.
Thank god, our voting day is on the 13th, which comes in the middle of the week. Both the major parties have 80% flaw each. Still debating whom to vote. But definitely, we will not let our vote go waste - somebody else might vote in our name and that is worse.
Exactly my feelings for Lucknow. The voter turn out was a dismal 34.5%. Can you believe that?
ReplyDelete:-) They have rights who dare defend them. Therefore, my dear, we have no rights.
ReplyDeleteWell, Bangalore wasn't any different. But I agree with you 100%
ReplyDeleteLet's look at the other side of the pic also.. there are people, who fight their way through queues and crazy officials, only to be told that for xyz reason, they can't.
ReplyDeleteBut definitely... its a shame that those who can vote, won't. They don't realise that it eventually effects everyone, them too.
Seriously....a crying shame:-(!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis will improve friend.
ReplyDeleteI am sure next elections will show more turn-out.

ReplyDeleteabsolutely right. and to think that indian voter, usually considered foolish has for the first time in general voted for sanity.
