O is for Omen
The recorder crooned
"Silent Night
Holy night.
All is calm,all is bright"
The night
was cold.
The moon sliced into half by the bars
as he looked through the window.
It was a silent night
but the calm eluded him.
He threw the vase and it crashed
into smithereens.
The recorder crooned
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Ah, silence is a strange thing. Once you like it, there's no going back.
ReplyDeleteOh! This is serious. There are helplines where such silences can be heard.
ReplyDeleteSrivalli...absolutely
ReplyDeleteArti..the question is do they want to be heard?
There are so many who fight their battles alone. I wish we were taught how to share our sadness as easily as we can share our joys.
ReplyDeleteSilence is the deadliest weapon. It is also the most peaceful means to exist.
ReplyDeleteFor the previous one you may see...

I really hope he stopped with just the vase.... This reminds me of a scene from that movie dirty picture when Vidya Balkan goes out of her bungalow and screams that please someone talk to me!!
ReplyDeleteIn so less words you speak volumes... Excellent job once again!! Really inspiring me to adapt to this way too :)
@ Nisha Really. Most of us are feel inadequate when we do..
ReplyDelete@Sonia..so true..deadly yet peaceful
@ Ira Loneliness is suffocating unlike solitude which is comforting..
Thank you :-)
There are two types of silences. One is calming and helps you declutter in times of chaos. The other is unnerving and reminds you that you're all alone.
ReplyDeleteThe second one is terrible.
Beautifully written Arti!
